2011 YEAR-END PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hello Cutters – 2011 started out well with the Spring Show at Zirnhelt’s, followed by a Jackpot at Frolek’s ranch the end of April where we cut in the snow!
Disaster struck with the E.H.V. H1 strain of  virus hitting Batty’s barn in Vernon. This proved to be very detrimental to cutting here in B.C. We had to cancel the McKenzie Meadows and Merritt Shows as well as the Susan Stewart Clinic. We finally got going again in June for Haughton’s show and the Maturity/cutting at Zirnhelt’s. We finished the year at Williams Lake in August.

The good news is that the Association managed to stop the money drain from the last 2 years. This was due to a great effort on the part of the Directors and members.

The banquet went off well, thanks to Cheri Smeeton for looking after all the arrangements with the Ramada Inn. We appreciate all your efforts.
Kymm Davidson has stepped down as Secretary, and Lynn Graham has returned as our new Secretary.

Thank you Kymm for all your hard work. As I also have stepped down from the Directorship I would like to thank everyone for a great year, I will miss working with you. I wish Campbell Garrard all the best as the 2012 President of the BCCHA.
Ken Hartley

2012 BCCHA Annual General Meeting

The AGM was called to order at 1:15 PM by Ken Hartley.  There were 25 members in attendance.  The Club struggled with two cancelled shows and the Susan Stewart Clinic due to the EHV-1 breakout.   Kymm will be resigning as Secretary and Lynn Graham has accepted the job back.  Ken announced his resignation as President, BCCHA Director and CCHA Director.  The association reported a small loss for the third consecutive year. Despite cancelled shows and low show numbers the loss was significantly less than the previous year.  The current show approval and budget protocol has allowed show producers to more accurately estimate their costs.  We will continue with this format and are optimistic 2012 will be a profitable year.

The Koop Mobile presently being stored in Knutsford and be relocated to Zirnhelt’s.  Rob Teit has volunteered to haul to local shows this year.

BCCHA Maturity, Classic Challenge, CCHA Days – There is a possibly changing the venue for the maturity and other locations are being pursued at this time.  The BBQ and Auction will remain as a central part of the shows events.  The Show is scheduled for June 28th – 30th.

Kevin Tienkamp won the hat donation from Cowboy’s Choice last year.  CCHA tickets for the Wilderness Ranch Sophisticated Catt colt are available from all directors and half of the proceeds go to the BCCHA.  The BCCHA is still looking for fund raising ideas.  There are 2 applicants this year for the Susan Stewart Scholarship.  Scholarship amounts still to be discussed.  The fund’s value is approximately $12,000.

Judges – Kevin conveyed that Russell will be hosting an NCHA judges clinic in Claresholm this year.  Bob, Rick and Les to assume the responsibility of creating a BCCHA rule book and have a draft available for the next meeting.

Show Applications – Directors are extremely pleased with the results of this application process.  The procedure has produced better budgeting and costs analysis.  Show Producers will continue with this method.  Show dates were discussed and the majority of those present were not interested in a lot of NCHA shows.  Moving the AGM date to November was discussed and the new Directors will finalize this in an upcoming meeting.

CCHA Finals– are now open to anyone who received a cheque in a class last year.  Entries are due on March 1st, 2012 and individual invitations were not mailed out this year.  Please consult your most recent Cutter for more information.

2012 BCCHA Directors: Robin Hay, Roger Smeeton, Les Timmons, Rick Hook, Rob Teit, Andrea Delwo, Wendy Garrard, Campbell Garrard, Ed Hurd and Bob Zirnhelt.   Show approval committee consists of Les Timmons, Roger Smeeton, Ken Hartley and Rick Hook.   Campbell Garrard is the new president for the 2012 year.

2012 CCHA Directors: Robin Hay, Bob Zirnhelt
